Linda K. Castor is a Registered Nurse and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who evaluates and counsels children, adolescents and adults in individual, couples, family and group settings.
Linda is has extensive post-graduate training and experience in the following areas: eating disorders, couples and family therapy, emotional abuse, childhood trauma and abuse, domestic violence, attention/hyperactivity disorders, anxiety and mood disorders, posttraumatic stress disorders, and Asperger’s Syndrome. She also has training in several areas of play therapy, including principles of Theraplay, and teaches parenting skills, with an insight-oriented approach to step parenting.
Ms. Castor received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Millikin University in 1985 and has worked at various teaching hospitals in specialty fields of Oncology, Gerontology and Neurology. In 2000, she earned her Master of Arts degree in Human Development Counseling from the University of Illinois at Springfield, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Linda has been in private practice since 2003. She is a board member of the Human Services Education Council and author of the “Living Smart” column for the State Journal Register. Her walking event, “Shaping Springfield”, has motivated families to establish a regular, fitness routine. Linda has presented numerous workshops in the Springfield area to promote both emotional and physical wellness. Her book, Weight Plan For Life, has sold over 200 copies.
Linda offers supportive psychotherapy and uses a team approach with other clinicians to facilitate continuity of care. Linda is a member of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED).
